Dr. Angela S. Mixon

Our Team

Founder | Executive Director

Dr. Angela Mixon is the mother of two sons, Coy and Coby. She has been an advocate for all things Autism (research, community outreach, resource procurement and allocation) for over 17 years. When her son, Coy, was diagnosed with Autism over 17 years ago, Dr. Mixon experienced adversities with her son due to limited resources that ignited her advocacy for public health transformation within the autism community. Amidst her experiences with school systems, families, and within the community, Dr. Mixon noted a service gap. Autistic children grow into autistic adults. Much of the support available assists autistic children and teens. What about autistics on the brink of adulthood, what type of resources are available for them? This gap is why Dr. Mixon founded Auturity. Countless young adults nearing the age of 22 will no longer be eligible to receive federally funded school-supported services. As a result, there is very little support available to assist them and their families with their overall transition into adulthood. This is where Auturity comes in, to help young adults with autism like Coy meet the challenges they uniquely face as they prepare to enter the world and thrive.
